My journey, so far.

I'm Aryan Dhingra, a student at Bergen County Academies' Academy of Engineering & Design Technology and the founder of AI Caretaker. I care most about building technology that meets people where they are — whether that's a grandparent with dementia, a classroom of kids in India without a library, or a younger student picking up their first robot.   • 2020 · 6th grademilestone

    A 3D printer and my first business

    Ramapo Ridge Middle School

    I got a 3D printer for Christmas and turned it into a business. I'd take orders from classmates in a notebook, run the prints overnight, photograph them, and hand them over at school the next day — charging extra for custom tweaks. It was my first real taste of manufacturing and running a business. It ended the way a lot of first ventures do: I hit a scaling wall, my printer gave out, and the whole operation went bankrupt. I learned more from that than from any print that worked.

    AIR1 — my first robot

    Science Fair · 2nd Place, Engineering

    I built AIR1 — the Artificial Intelligence Robot 1 (Aryan Industries Robot Dhingra 1) — a Raspberry Pi–powered autonomous robot that disinfects workspaces with UV-C light, built for under $200 during the height of COVID. The interesting part wasn't making it drive; it was the science of the dose. UV-C near 265 nm kills pathogens by breaking apart their DNA, but it's dangerous to people — so the robot had to work hands-free, navigate obstacles with an ultrasonic sensor, and creep along at a calculated ~2.17 in/min so every surface got the ~160 J/m² needed to neutralize bacteria and even SARS-CoV. I took 2nd place in engineering at the science fair — and, being 12, immediately tried to monetize it with a business card and a demo video I handed out to family and friends.

    Engineering, meet the scientific method

    Science Fair

    With a new 3D printer, I ran a real experiment: can you optimize a print for both strength and appearance at once, just by changing slicer settings? I printed 14 Statues of Liberty — chosen for their failure-prone thin features — and tested each to destruction on a push-pull force gauge, changing one variable at a time (infill density and structure, ironing, layer height, supports) and logging shear and compression strength for every run. Gyroid infill won decisively, and strength flattened out past ~30% density, making that the efficiency sweet spot. The finale: a print that held over 500 N balanced on Lady Liberty's head. It was my introduction to controlled testing, data collection, and letting the numbers decide.

    High school — new tools, a new mission

    Bergen County Academies

    New beginnings: suddenly I was surrounded by like-minded people and real resources to build bigger. I found my footing in a STEM club, joined research courses, and started the passion project that would define the next three years — AI Caretaker. I also picked up golf competitively for the first time and made varsity as a freshman.

    First internship — into the corporate world

    Khoj Information Technology

    The summer after freshman year I stepped into cloud computing at Khoj Information Technology, and a whole new world opened up. I built real event-driven integration workflows on Azure — Logic Apps wired together with Event Grid and Service Bus that reacted the instant a file landed, automated Outlook email flows, and a pipeline that pushed email attachments into SharePoint and structured JSON into Blob Storage. My work even fed a GitHub Copilot proposal Khoj submitted to Microsoft Australia. It was my first taste of how technology actually works inside a company — serverless architecture, professional standards, and real deadlines.

    Building outward — impact, service, and scale

    New Jersey · Philadelphia · Sydney

    A packed year. I kept adding features to AI Caretaker while starting to volunteer at a local nursing home and joining Lifting Soulz — a nonprofit supporting underprivileged kids in India, where I built the site and donation pathway. Over the summer I interned at Metcash in Sydney and went to Wharton's entrepreneurship program, leading a mock startup, Uniview, to a Top-3 finish.

    AI Caretaker takes the stage

    My biggest project came together. I finalized AI Caretaker and began showcasing it — presenting at local science fairs, filing a U.S. provisional patent, and entering it into competitions — all while continuing my nonprofit work and volunteering. Three years of building finally standing on its own.

    Right now I'm writing up AI Caretaker as a research publication and interning at Morgan Stanley as an Enterprise Computing Intern — building a data pipeline and learning how a large institution handles sensitive financial information: cost of operation, security, and a relentless focus on the client. The business side of technology, up close.
